Pontassieve is the gateway to the Sieve Valley and Chianti Rufina, with frequent regional trains to Florence. Staying on the hill above the town means the station is minutes away and, in the evening, there is nothing but the quiet of the olive groves.

Is Pontassieve a good base for visiting Florence?
Yes, if you want to avoid Florence’s ZTL and expensive parking. From Tassinaia you drive 10 minutes down to Pontassieve or Sieci station, leave the car in the free car parks and reach Florence Santa Maria Novella in about 20 minutes by train. Timetables and tickets are on trenitalia.com.
Do I need a car to stay at Tassinaia?
Yes, we recommend one: we are on the hillside, 6 km from Pontassieve station. The road is fully paved up to the entrance, suitable for any vehicle (car, motorbike or bicycle), and on-site parking is free.
Is breakfast included?
Yes, the sweet and savoury buffet breakfast is always included and served from 8:00 to 10:00, in the garden or in the breakfast room with exposed beams. On request we provide products for food intolerances and coeliac guests.
Are the rooms cleaned every day?
Yes, room cleaning is daily and free of charge, with a change of linen every 4 days.
Is there a restaurant on site?
No, we do not have an on-site restaurant. On request we organise tastings of our extra virgin olive oil and boards of local products. For lunch and dinner there are trattorias and restaurants a few minutes’ drive away between Pontassieve and Chianti Rufina: after booking we are happy to share our recommendations.
Is there a swimming pool?
No, we do not have a pool. We have a private hot tub SPA, heated and filled with water from our own spring, to be booked at least 24 hours in advance: the base package lasts 2 hours.
Is it suitable for families?
Yes. The Suite Family Deluxe (55 m²) combines two connecting rooms with 2 double beds and a private bathroom; the Elisir Suite (30 m²) has a double bed and a single bed.
